Puno

Visiting Puno means being closer to the sky than anywhere else and discovering how a city managed to use its altitude above the sea as a tool to build a cultural legacy that has endured for millennia. Located in the south of the country, on the shores of Lake Titicaca, its more than 3,800 meters above sea level are the confirmation that the ancient Peruvians learned to dominate the heights to build an ancestral heritage present to this day in its impressive stone buildings. Legend tells that Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo children of the Sun God emerged from the waters of Titicaca, the Sacred Lake of the Incas, to found the Inca empire. In this same lake coexist with the artificial and floating islands of the Uros; with natural islands such as the famous Taquile, known for its fine textiles which offers views of natural colors as dazzling as unforgettable.
